This is just a page about some of my fishing trips and some of
the friends I fish with. I belong to the Kansas City Angler's
Club, we have a 40 acre lake and club house in Pleasent Hill
Missouri. We have a large population of Bass, Crappie, Catfish,
Hybrid-Bluegill, and Wipers (introduced in 96).
The largest bass I have boated is a
8lb.3oz., however I have hooked larger ones and failed to get
them in the boat. In the spring of 97, I had one up I know that
would go between 10-11lbs (but they always look bigger
when they get away !). Hopefully this year I will be able to boat
that fish, as I have a very good idea that it will be in the same
spot.
my favorite lures :
Model "A" Bombers... deep diver- size 7-
crawfish green - This has to be one of the best fish
catchin' baits around !!! Not only is it a great bass
bait, but it is not uncommon for us to catch cappie,
channel cat, walleye, drum and carp on it ....so tie one
on and then hold on! *note- if you are taking your
children fishing put one on for them, its a good first
timer lure.
BassAssassins...slug type- clear/black/silver fleck - I
fish this with a 5/0 Owener hook with no weight. Just let
the bait do its own work, let it settle and fish it slow.
Work it over logs and thru brush. The whole secret to
this bait is ......."slow". This is what I took
my 8 on.
Arkie Jigs and Uncle Josh pork frog... Love to fish
these! I know there are alot of brands of jigs out there
and I know they are good, but this is what I use and I
have confidence in them. I like brown and also
black/blue. Uncle Josh....well I dont have to say
anything about this.
Culprit Worms.....I like Texas style - They work for
me...I use fire and ice and plum crazy. Love to worm
fish!
Buzz baits...large - chartruse or chartruse/white - and
both with a chartruse trailer without fail. To me this is
the most exciting top water bait. Get a big fish up on
one of these....talk about a wake up call ! Remember to
not jerk to fast when the fish comes up on it or you will
pull it away from them. I always keep a rod handy with a
worm tied on when i fish a buzz bait. If the fish misses
the bait, quickly cast a worm to the same spot. I have
picked up a lot of fish this way.
